What makes you valuable as a 1099

Here is what is going to make you valuable as a solo 1099 federal sub-contractor, most of which you can influence or control:

  • In demand technical skills
  • Valuable soft skills (communication, organization, etc.)
  • Willingness to do things others won't (work onsite full time vs remote)
  • Great client relationships
  • Constrained labor supply (people with high level security clearances)
  • Growing industry that uses your skills
  • A confident, friendly personality

You know what won't make you valuable? Having the best company name or website or the perfect administrative system.

Focus on what makes you valuable and then getting a 1099 gig will be easy.
