Schedule recurring client meetings
I hate meetings, particularly recurring ones that are mostly useless.
BUT, there is one recurring meeting you should set up: client meetings.
Here's why:
Making your government client happy gives you a ton of leverage a solo 1099.
- It means the prime will love you.
- It means your client will want you work with even if they move to another job.
- It means you can get referrals from the prime and from the client if the project ends.
However, you can't make your client happy if they have no idea who you are.
This is what management consultants call "face time."
Clients are busy, so if you can get on their calendar on a regular basis, you should do it.
You can provide status updates, address any concerns they have, and overall just establish a positive working relationship.
After all, if you do good work and the client doesn't see it, did it really happen?
You don't NEED to get a recurring meeting on the books, but it's much easier to make it a habit than to do one offs.
