Networking notes
"Do networking" can be an overwhelming piece of advice.
Here are few lists I made to help you actually execute.
Types of people I network with:
- Program managers
- Co-workers
- Friends of employees
- Clients
- Former clients
- Other GovCon business owners
- Recruiters
Types of questions I ask:
- If you were in my shoes, what do you think I should do?
- What are you looking for in your next job?
- Is there anyone else you think I should talk to?
- What's going on at work?
- Where do you need help?
- Would you be okay tagging up again?
How I network:
- Coffee outside of work
- Coffee break during work
- Phone call
- Zoom call
- Happy Hour
- Dinner
- Casual "water cooler" chat
What I avoid:
-
Large conferences and networking events
- Note: Not bad, just doesn't suit my personality.
Happy networking!
