Most organizations are dumpster fires
I subscribe to the CFO Secrets newsletter and he just sent out an interesting e-mail about how 90% of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) is a dumpster fire.
CFO Secrets - 90% of M&A is a Dumpster Fire
He had this quote in the article.
Brent Beshore said all “businesses are loosely functioning disasters that sometimes make a profit."
I don't know about you but this is more or less true of most government organizations I've worked in.
Sometimes I just look around and think "man I can't believe anything gets done around here!"
While this is somewhat depressing when you first encounter it, if you are an aspiring 1099, the dumpster fire that is government is your opportunity.
Just being a little more competent, aggressive in execution, friendly, and helpful, will set you apart from most of the people that work there.
Once you are recognized for being one of those few people who can help fight the dumpster fire, you can take advantage of that to get your first 1099 gig.
I have a Navy SEAL friend who said that he doesn't view SEALs as elite. It's just that everyone else sucks, so in comparison, SEALs look elite.
Keep that in mind if you think you're not good enough to go 1099.
