More time or more money
When I first went 1099, I worked only four days per week (and not even full days most of the time).
It was glorious.
I later moved to a full time schedule, but I'm still inclined to take time off for myself and leave money on the table.
But, you may be biased towards working more and earning more money instead of taking time off.
That's great too, and going 1099 is a great way to get ahead financially.
The important thing to notice though, is that you have the choice of working more and earning more or working less and having more free time.
If you work a W2 job, your ability to earn more or take more time off is pretty limited, often requiring you to switch jobs entirely if you want to change.
So the real choice is not between making more money or taking more time off.
The real choice is deciding whether or not you want to be able to control those two factors by going 1099, or staying W2 and let corporate policy dictate it for you.
