Learn to calm yourself down

I'm normally a calm person, but this 1099/government contracting game can get me riled up some times.

To return to my normal, level headed state, I try to remind myself of a few things to help calm me down.

  • Don't worry about things you can't control
  • Some times the best course of action is to do nothing
  • Work is just one aspect of the game of life. Play the best you can but don't dwell on it
  • If you're not homeless or starving, you're doing okay
  • On your deathbed you won't remember minor setbacks
  • The best way to stop worrying about yourself is to help someone else
  • If you can't enjoy life now, there's no future you will ever enjoy

These are easier to say than to practice but good to keep in mind when you're upset.
