It never gets easier
I was planning on moving to Portland, OR this year so I left my billable project to take the summer off and get ready for the move.
It was great!
But then my wife and I decided to stay in the DMV area permanently, which was a great decision for us, but it also meant I needed to start looking for a new 1099 gig again.
I reached out to my network, talked to recruiters, and have been doing the things I recommend in this book and newsletter.
And you know what? It's still hard!
Things aren't moving as fast as I would like them to, and on occasion I despair that I may have to get a W2 job.
But I've gone through this a few times before. Eventually, an opportunity comes through and I'm back at a 1099 gig, billing hours, and wishing I was back on vacation mode.
This is just how it goes. Expecting it to be easy just makes it harder.
So if you embrace the fact that it will be hard, you will be less likely to give up.
If you don't give up, you'll get a 1099 gig.
