How to tell if a job posting can be a 1099 opportunity

Over the last year I received e-mails from about ten different companies asking if I was interested in a position for a "Senior Tableau Administrator" in Bethesda, Maryland.

Were these ten different positions?

Nope.

Peraton, the prime, had trouble filling the spot so they offered the position to their sub-contractor teammates.

If you see a lot of job postings for nearly identical positions with nearly identical descriptions, that's a very good indicator that the position is being sub-contracted out and, if it's being sub-contracted out, why can't the prime sub-contract it to you?

If you can figure out which one of those companies is the prime and get in touch with the program manager, there's a good chance you can turn that into a 1099 gig.
