Find ways to win, not excuses for losing
When the average employee encounters an obstacle, at least in government work, they give up.
They have mostly legitimate reasons for why they couldn't make something happen and so their problem now becomes the boss' problem, who will then assign it to the employee who actually get stuff done.
Don't be like the average empoyee.
If you want to be a successful solo 1099 federal sub-contractor (wow that just rolls off the tongue), you need to find ways to win, not excuses for losing.
I don't mean this to come off as some motivational half time speech. It's simply a fact.
There are many things that are going to get in your way: stubborn bureaucrats, clearance issues, late payments, annoying clients, unresponsive colleagues, etc.
If you get in the habit of solving problems instead of accepting them, you will go far.
