Don't work with sucky clients
I was on a project with great clients. We meshed very well and they were smart.
Then they left for new jobs and their replacements were not smart.
The office also got a new director and once she realized that my clients weren't smart, she would go directly to me.
She also wasn't very smart, at least, not smart with analytics.
Working with her quickly became tedious and obnoxious.
So I left without another project lined up.
This led to my year of unforced time off which cost me $200,000 in income.
Ouch.
But I don't regret leaving the client. It wasn't worth the daily hassle to stay on.
If you work with a sucky client, leave.
But, be smarter than I was about it and get another gig lined up first (unless you have enough savings to support the time off).
You will save money on therapist bills and stress induced Uber Eats orders.
