Add vacation days AFTER your vacation
When you're a W2 employee, you have to carefully monitor your PTO days.
As a solo 1099, you don't have PTO. You just have TO, of which you have as much as you'd like within reason.
One recommendation I have for you is to start adding an extra day off after you come back from your vacation.
Getting an extra day to unpack, do laundry, take a nap, etc. feels awesome. It's worth every unbillable hour for that day.
If you have kids, I actually recommend taking the day off before you start your vacation to prep. Clean the house, pack, etc. It's much less stressful than trying to scramble to get things done the night before.
Just a tip from a 1099 who likes taking vacation.
